Yuri's New Born Screening

Yuri is now a month and a week old. I got the result of his new born screening. New born screening is an advisable way to see if the baby has a possible disease like Congenital hypothyroidism, Congenital adrenal hyperplasia, Galactosemia, Phenylketonuria, G6PD Deficiency. Of course as a father, I want to make sure that all things are good and well for my son. We made sure that he gets the screening so that we'll know if there's something wrong, we can do something immediately to cure it. I was really nervous when I went to the hospital to check for the results. By the time I got to the hospital, I felt like I don't want to get it because it might have a negative outcome, but I realized that if I don't get the result and later found out that he has serious disease, I will not forgive myself for being so coward to see the result. When I got the result and signed all the papers that needs to be signed, the smile on my face was automatic to see the result of my son's screening-all were negative. The moment I got home, I told my wife about the result, she was very happy because we are both hoping that Yuri is fine and healthy. Now we are planning to complete Yuri's immunization and will give him anything he need in order for him to be healthy.

Yuri's First Day

These are some of Yuri's first pictures. He was just a few hours old when these picture were taken by my cousin. I was so happy when I first saw my baby. I just can't imagine that this is the baby that my wife was carrying for the past 9 months.  Now I can feel what other fathers are feeling when they first saw their own child.

Yesterday was his first month. My wife and I are happy for him because he is getting bigger without us noticing it. He is always sleeping and will only wake up when he wants his milk or when his diapers are wet. And one thing we noticed about him is that he don't want to drink the milk I bought for him and just want his mother's milk which is good because doctors recommend it. An advantage for me because I don't have to worry much about buying powdered milk. I really hope he get's really healthy and the result of his newborn screening will be good.

I can still remember when my wife and I went to a hospital to have Yuri's newborn screening. Yuri was sleeping from the moment we left home and still sleeping when we reach the hospital. He woke up only when the nurse prick him and started collecting blood from him. He cried and kicked the nurse as if he intentionally do it. The nurse told us that our baby has a strong kick and I was glad to hear that. I was sorry for my baby because he was hurting, but  we need to do that for his sake.
